NICE TO MEET YOU

I'm Sini-Tuuli Siponkoski

The human being's ability to survive, adjust and thrive is something I have witnessed over and over again in my work as clinical neuropsychologist.

I have over 15 years of experience in neuropsychological rehabilitation and I have had the privilege to work with people from all age groups and various backgrounds. I have also actively engaged in scientific research of the use of music neurological rehabilitation at the University of Helsinki, where I earned my PhD in 2022.

My view of the recovery process is holistic and I aim to integrate neuropsychological knowledge with therapeutic elements and latest scientific advances. I want to share my knowledge and experience both with brain injury survivors and their loved ones.

My Story

My mind has always been curious and creative. After first being interested in music, art and philosophy, I finally ended up uncovering psychology in my early student years at the University of Turku.

After my graduation in 2007, I started my career as a clinical psychologist working within residential rehabilitation in Käpylä Rehabilitation Center, Helsinki, where I got to work with amazing mentors and traumatic brain injury specialists. I learned both from my colleagues and my patients. Later on, I expanded my experience to working with children and adolescents with learning disabilities and patients with multiple conditions.

During 2016 - 2021 I worked as a resercher in the Cognitive Brain Research Unit at the University of Helsinki. With my team, I explored the efficacy of music therapy in the rehabilitation of traumatic brain injury and the use of choir intervention in the treatment of aphasia. I defended my thesis "Music Therapy in the Cognitive and Neural Rehabilitation of Traumatic Brain Injury" in 2022.

Currently I work as a private entrepreneur providing neuropsychological rehabilitation and short therapy services, research consultation and education.

Why online education?

I have seen the growing need of neuropsychological knowledge and services which is not met by the current health care services. I firmly belive in the power of sharing information and emporing the brain injury survivor and their family members to help them find a path forward after the injury. I also want to create an online service with personal presence.
